Marcelo grew up inside BJJ in Rio. He was Carlson's top technical instructor before anyone in the US had even heard the word choke or arm bar. Marcelo has made bjj his profession in rio from the start. He has been doing grappling like mad for 30 years. Many bjj guys in rio have also done judo at the same time. During this 30 years Marcelo also obtained a basic Judo black belt.

Our Seattle Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu training also includes MMA (mixed martial arts) training including Boxing, Wrestling, muay thai, and judo, if you desire it. The academy has a full-time muay thai and boxing coach and full sets of pads, gloves and bags. However, the focus is on traditional Carlson Gracie Brazilian jiu jitsu. Our South area school is now in Puyallup. You can come for either striking or grappling, or both, it is up to you.
